John Heartfield is one of the artists I’ve found recently that I’m the most excited about. He was a German Dada artist that transported to England and created work that spoke out against hitler and the Nazi movement. His work is witty, hilarious and poignant. Good shit.

Alfred Leopold Isidor Kubin (April 10, 1877 – August 20, 1959) was an Austrian print maker, illustrator and occasional writer. Kubin is considered an important representative of Symbolism and Expressionism.

All of these works are from the late 1800′s to the very early 1900′s.

    A RANT OF CONTRADICTORY NON-SENSE.

    ++

The ideas of censorship in imagery and art have always been bizarre to me. It was surprising to me to find work like this from the late 1800′s yet at any time I can turn on the history channel and see fields of gutted and charred bodies. It’s ridiculous to be surprised that images like this were around back then, which of course is ridiculous and naive on my part.  But like a fool that is how I felt at first.  Some of the first cave paintings depicted bestiality, the bible has more incest murder and treachery in the first 30 pages then any of this shit.  The history of the late 1800′s alone is more terrifying then any of this work.

What shocks me more is the people who feign offense. There is nothing I hate more then a passive aggressive person, to me they are the most offensive. To be dismissive, little jabs in conversation. This is the softest safest way to say the worst things. You become a mind reader with these worms, reading the true meaning of their limp ways. They are just the worst people, church goers, housewives, salesmen. Some people like to say with a very self satisfied tone that they do their work for the common man. “THE COMMON MAN, THE COMMON MAN..” they preach.  Fuck the common man, fuck the elite, fuck everyone!

What offends me is all the shit in the world that is created for the vilest of reasons.  All the shit movies, the shit products, the shit scientists, politics, religious leaders.  And the naive followers, the accepters are even worse.  All coming from that same self serving money driven pit.  When your ground work is shit no pile of roses can hide that stink.  Of course there will never be censorship against that.  Against shit heads.  There should be a class in school where you are hooked up to wires and if you blindly follow you get a shock.  Like an idiot hamster.  Of course once the lesson was learned no one would ever come back to class, and those that did would would get immediate job placements with all the top companies.

As I walk down the street I look at peoples skulls and know that inside all wrapped up together are images of cute babies and puppies, the insects in the dirt, the sewers beneath, the flushing toilets, images of war from the news, a new sexual desire with each passing person. They are aware of all of it, in there conscious and subconscious.  It’s all wrapped up in their head at that moment, the newborn baby, the insects and the sexual fantasies, all of it rolled up in a delusional self righteous ego. When a person speaks of their homely long passed grandmother they are acknowledging her sex life, her death, your mothers birth, both their vagina’s, some incest way back, murder, slavery. That word grandmother is a pedophile snuff film dripping from your lips. Everyone is in the closet, we are all murderers, rapists, lusting pedophiles, perverts and cruel liars. I dont know where I”m going, but I think some of this guys drawings are neat.

I found this book called Painters Eleven. A group of artists from the seventies and eighties. I think they saw themselves as the underdogs, the bad boys. This guys stuff is ok. Their all rich frauds, most of the stuff below is from William Ronald’s series titled Prime Ministers. Each abstract painting is named after a Prime Minister… which is total shit now that I think about it. A bullshit gimmick to get a grant I’m sure. These fucks really believe their own hype. Canada is soft as shit. I want to do a series of paintings, where William Ronald’s work begins at the stage of first figuring out what best will get grant money, my starting point will be from inside his head. It will be called The Conscience Of A Fraud. I’ll probably get bored after one though. Fuck the last painter I posted too. I’m sick of him. My second post on artists has spiraled into hate. More next week from Painters Eleven.

    PART ONE:  WOLS.

I’ve been cruising the library shelves searching for artists a lot lately.  Each week I will post someone I’ve found.

    This week. WOLS.

Wols was the pseudonym of Alfred Otto Wolfgang Schulze (May 27, 1913- September 1, 1951), a German painter and photographer predominantly active in France.

Noted for his etchings and for his use of stains (taches) of color dabbed onto the canvas (as exemplified by his painting Composition, c. 1950), Wols pioneered a new style of expressive abstraction. Though unrecognized in his lifetime, he is considered one of the most influential artists of the Tachisme movement.

Saul Steinberg was an artist that worked for the New Yorker in the 1950′s – 90′s. He was a long time friend of Kurt Vonnegut, had obsessions with reflections and perspective and worked primarily with cut and paste, crayons and water colors. The shit’s great. He has an autobiography called Reflections and Shadows that is really good too. An interesting man. I will upload a collection of his New Yorker covers another time FUCKO!

I have gotten into a lot of old comics lately. This artist is Winsor Mccay. He did some of the first live action animation shorts ever in the early 1900′s. His way of drawing animals is what I like most. He had a few different comic strips, usually taking place in some sort of dream world, he also did a lot of work with political cartoons.

I can really relate to the fifth image, the comic strip with the thirsty fish.

Appropriate to the times some of his work drifts into the realms of the racist. I will have a new artist next week, then a new one the week after, then I’m sick of it and retire old comics forever. The end.

This is the cover to a note book I wrote poetry in over the summer.

One time a bee flew between the cover and the first page, so I squished him, then glued him there, and named him for his sacrifice.

Listen to this song and you’ll really understand the name.

Pedro Bell is the artist that did the artwork for the Funkadelic and George Clinton album covers.  His stuff is amazing.  I’ve searched up and down for a book of his work but have never been able to find anything anywhere.  I’ve made as comprehensive a catalog as I’ve been able to below.  The work is in no particular order, but it is all great.  There are a couple images that may not be his, but still good.  There were liner notes that he wrote too, but I can’t find them. They’re good. I will update this as I find more. Yip Yip.
